Research

July, 2008: First science research conference presentation at the 2008 International Coral Reef Symposium on our initial work with Trochus stellatus and Tegula sp. gastropod spawning induction.

Education

2008: Second high school experiment collaboration with the University of Houston to test marine aquarium use in the classroom and discussion forum interaction between science experts and students. See the 2008 International Year of the Reef study page for details.

Aquaculture

March, 2008: Project DIBS Breeder Zooid makes first observation of DIBS Nassarius reproduction (egg cases).

Dec, 2007: Project DIBS website passes 25,000 unique visitors, 5,000 captive bred invertebrates distributed.

Dec, 2006: Project DIBS website passes 2,000 unique visitors.

2006: Project DIBS website goes live in August, 2006

Current Reef Stewardship Foundation Focus Areas

The Foundation is searching for new ways to improve coral reef stewardship and conservation of the biodiversity of coral reefs. We currently support three major program areas. Please click on the pictures below for more information on goals and accomplishments of each area.
Research
Research Program Area Focus: Rigorous research on life history characteristics and captive rearing of coral reef associated organisms with the goal of publicly sharing of research results.
Education
Education Program Area Focus: Educational research and outreach programs created for students and the public regarding coral reef decline.
Aquaculture Program Area
Aquaculture Program Area Focus: Conservation education programs and assistance on practical breeding of coral reef organisms designed for marine aquarium owners focusing on responsible purchasing, appropriate husbandry and captive rearing of coral reef organisms.
